Chewing and Spitting

“Chewing and Spitting” 2010-2011

In my work Chewing and Spitting (2010-2011) I chew marshmallows, spit them out and place them in hand made, cast porcelain, sometimes collapsing bowls, mouth size. I push and stick the bowls and their content in a duvet-like, cream coloured tablecloth that, heaped and cuddled onto a tea table, resembles the soft and malleable shape of the marshmallows. Through the irregularity of their support, the bowls turn, tip and spill their contents. The display of the marshmallows resembles their shaping technique: unexpected, randomly chewed and spat out.
